Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a mobile web application and a responsive theme?

A responsive theme is all about screen-size: it loads the same styling as the desktop view, adjusting it to fit a smaller screen. A mobile web application combines the versatility of the web with the rich experience of apps and can contain features such as offline mode or push notifications.

A mobile web application, also known as a single page application, is similar to a native mobile app in terms of look & feel, the important difference being that it runs in the browser - thus making the submission process to App Stores no longer a requirement!

How is a session defined?

Since mobile web applications are in fact single-page web applications, the concept of "page-view" becomes obsolete. Instead, we're using "sessions" to keep track of your mobile traffic.

A session is a group of interactions that take place on your mobile web application within a given time frame. For example a single session can contain multiple screen views, events and social interactions. You can track your monthly sessions quota from your Appticles dashboard.

How can my users access the mobile web application?

Mobile users don't have to search for your app in iTunes or Google Play. They simply need to access your website like they usually do and your mobile web application will automatically load in their browser. No installation required.

Am I able to integrate my own ads?

Google Ad Sense / Google Double Click for Publishers is supported in our platform. Please contact us if you need special integrations with other 3rd party ad networks.

Can I submit my application to iTunes or Google Play?

Appticles.com enables you to have a self-hosted mobile application that runs directly in the browser(no App Stores needed). However, if you do want to submit the application to iTunes or Google Play, we can help you to package it into a hybrid application, as part of our VIP plan.

What content sources do you support?

We support the popular Content Management Systems out there (WordPress, Drupal and Joomla) and we're working on adding more content sources on a monthly basis (Youtube, Twitter, Instagram and others). We also offer the possibility to add your custom type of content through our own API. Request API access.
